Re: Post your car!

I always see people saying the Izusu is no good for power (well maybe a lot of power) - but come on, my 4.9l runs a Izusu since day 1 (7 years ago) with not a single issue with it. Granted I know it wazs in good condition as I had it in for a rebuild - now I didn't beat on it all the time, but it did get beat on and if it holds the 4.9l torque, I don't see an issue. :p

Anyways, it is easy to tell the type of transaxle anyways (other that the engine size) - if both shift cables point upwards from the transaxle, then it is an Izusu - the Getrag, 1 of the cables lays flat.

Re: Post your car!

lol, yah, that's kinda what we were talking about... I was tellin him you've had no issues with your setup, but considering the turbo Grand National-based engine he's puttin together, I don't know if your 4.9 would be in the same range as far as torque...?
I know your motor was modified, but I don't remember ever actually discussing any actual numbers on it...
again, as long as he keeps the boost down, and/or drives civilized, it will be OK for a while, anyway, lol
Like I was also tellin him, I was planning to use an Izuzu for my swap too... at least until I can afford the 6-spd swap...

Of which, I found out yesterday that there's now another gearing option available... the new Buick Regal GS has a 6-speed manual option for this year... behind a 270hp turbo 2.0L, lol

Re: Post your car!

Well at 5/7 psi I should be able to keep it around 230hp/270tq. I think the isuzu should do OK as long as I don't abuse it too much. No clutch dumps and all. I read the 2nd gear is the weak one. Thinking maybe I should drop in a phantom grip. Heard it helps. A 6 speed will eventually be in the future.

Re: Post your car!

Ah... OK.
Yah, that would definitely help... not sure if it would be a positive for the longevity of the tranny though, lol
